Meet May and Her Kids

In the fall of 2008, we met May.  She is from the Karen tribe.  She is married to Koh, who is Thai.  They have two beautiful children, Blessing and Gabriel.  They also have 12 girls living with them at the Mae Win Hostel.  We have grown to love May and her big family and have taken on her home as a large part of the ministry that we do in Thailand.

This year, we've helped in small ways such as taking food, diapers, toiletries, cook ware, musical instruments, and other items to the home.  We also took the entire home out for a day at the Chiang Mai zoo.  As Le Master Hope Foundation grows, we'll be doing more and more work with May's Place.  Our goal is to see her dream come true.

May's dream is to build a Christian school in the mountains for the Karen vilages in the area.  We want to see that happen.  We've already looked at property with her.  Just $10,000 US will buy that property and get a start on seeing it cleared for building.  If you'd like to be a part of seeing May's dream come true, partner with us.  You will truly be blessed!

Mae Win Hostel History

Objectives:
1.  To give each student an opportunity to experience the love of God.
2.  To give each student the knowledge and ability to live quality lives in society, be able to care for themselves, help their families and others.
3.  To help each student avoid addictive substances and other harmful influences.  To provide opportunities to participate in profitable activities.
4.  To assist each student in personal growth and development in the hope that they will grow to love and serve the Lord and become future missionaries.

Mae Win Hostel opened in June 2003 under the direction and vision of Minister Wright Dee.  He saw the importance of opening a home for young people who needed to leave their villages to continue their education.  Not only would the hostel provide a place for the young people to live, but it would also give occasion to teach them the Good News of the Gospel and assist them in other ways.  Partners agreed to help open the hostel by providing financial support.

Mae Win Hostel opened with four students.  In the beginning there was difficulty finding enough food to eat.  But by the grace and blessing of God, they were able to make it through those tough times.  A GTO (Maria) would visit once a week during that time and teach English and songs to the students.  Maria saw their situation and the difficulties they were facing.  The next year, they received the good news that the GTO had decided to support them on a monthly basis.  Since that time, they have had the support needed to continue in ministry and not go without food.

In 2008, several more students arrived bringing the total number to eight.  Each year more have come and there are now 12 students.  Due to lack of space and finances, they are unable to accept more students.

In 2006, the first student that came to live in the hostel graduated from high school and moved to Chiang Mai to continue her education.  She is studying for a Teacher’s Certificate in Computer Education at Rajabhat University.  With housing and financial support from the GTO, she is able to continue her studies.  After graduation and finding a job, she will reimburse the money that she’s borrowed for study expenses and that money will then be used for other students.

In 2008, three more students graduated and left Mae Win Hostel to train as Nurse’s Assistants.  Their study expenses were sponsored by the Eubanks family and friends.  They are currently working at McKain Hospital in Chiang Mai.  They are gradually returning the money they borrowed while studying so that other students will also have an opportunity.  They also help their families financially by sending money home to them.  That money has helped build a new house, a new bathroom addition, and send younger siblings to school.  The May Win Hostel is very proud of these young ladies.  Their vision is becoming a reality.

Two other students have graduated from high school and are pursuing further education in Chiang Mai.  One is studying Nursing at Payap University.  The other one is studying Agricultural Science at Mae Jo University.  MWH is committed to helping these students graduate and find jobs.

Each year during the summer school break, they help to plan Bible Camps.  The villages where they go seldom have activities like this for the children.  Some of the villages do not have many Christians.  This gives MWH students an opportunity to learn more about God as well as make new friends and participate in meaningful activities.  At the same time, the students are being missionaries in service to the Lord.

MWH has had many friends come and visit to learn more about their work.  After hearing their story, many have had a desire to help them financially.  Presently they have sufficient funds to provide plenty of good food for the students.  They have been blessed to the point that they have been able to assist others who are in need of food and basic necessities.  They help them as they are able, wanting to let others know that God loves and has not forgotten them.  MWH knows that God will provide whatever they lack.

MWH says, “Let’s make seeking God our first priority.  Let’s put our faith and hope in the love of God and trust Him to prepare the way for us and provide for our needs.  May God bless each individual who has had a part in this ministry.”
